The 6 English Wines to buy in Majestic Wine right now

THE BEST ENGLISH WINES IN THE MAJESTIC MIX SIX DEAL.

I was recently browsing the English Wine selection at Majestic Wine and the huge savings on a few of my favourite bottles caught my eye. English Wine has a reputation as expensive, and it’s true that often it is. So much love and attention goes into each bottle. But there are deals to be had.

In this blog post, I’ll set out the six wines that I would put in my basket right now – all on offer at Majestic Wine.

Does Majestic Wine sell English wine?

Majestic wine is one of my favourite places to stock up on English wine. It has a great selection which is ever growing. It includes wines from some of the larger English wine makers, as well as smaller vineyards too.

I’d love to see them sell even more, especially some of the more niche wines. But for now, it’s one of the easiest places to buy a selection of English Wine.

With delivery deals and click and collect, as well as the fantastic Mix 6 offering – it’s my go to if I need a few bottles.

What is the Majestic Mix Six deal?

I love the Majestic Wine Mix Six deal. Sure, it’s a clever marketing trick – but it does save you quite staggering amounts of money. Basically, if you buy six wines (any wines in the deal), you get the bottle for a discounted price.

Unlike a “cheapest item free” deal, there are no little tricks. You really do save a fair bit of money. Ultimately, it encourages you to buy more – I’ve been known to go in for one bottle and come out with 24. But worse things have happened!

The Majestic Wine Mix 6 deal includes a fair number of English wines too. The savings on which are quite remarkable.

The best English wine in the Majestic Wine Mix Six Deal

Here are the six wines that I would throw into my Majestic basket – online or IRL. These six wines are not only wonderful to drink, but they have the biggest savings when you buy six wines at Majestic.

If you bought all six in the Majestic deal, you’d make a total saving of….£55.76! For that saving, you may as well go ahead and throw in another six. A totally legit maths calculation.

1/ Ridgeview ‘Cavendish’ Brut

BEST FOR: Celebration fizz

Ridgeview, Sussex

Available for £27.99 – that’s a £12.01 saving.

Ridgeview is an extremely well respected producer of English Wine, particularly known for their quality English sparkling. The Cavendish Brut is equal-part blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier – a classic and refined combination. Expect intense brioche on the nose balanced with a hit of citrus zest.

2/ Nyetimber ‘Classic Cuvée’ Brut

BEST FOR: Gifting to someone special

Nyetimber, Sussex

Available for £29.00 – that’s a £16 saving!

I was recently given a bottle of the Nyetimber Classic Cuvee Brut for my birthday and can attest to how delighted I was to receive this gift. A classy and elegant fizz with great brand recognition made by powerhouse wine maker Nyetimber, perfect for treating someone special.

There are some really good deals on Nyetimber at the moment, but I think the Majestic Mix 6 deal has the best overall saving.

3/ Selborne Rosé Brut

BEST FOR: Girls night

Selborne, Hampshire

Available for £20.00 – that’s a £10 saving.

A delightful English sparkling rose made by Selborne and sold by Majestic Wine. This bottle saves you a massive £10 when you mix six and Majestic – that’s one third off the original price.

Pick this for a girls night or a romantic night in. Light, strawberry and cream notes. Ideal for summer in the garden or a cozy night with candles.

4/ Bolney Estate Pinot Gris

BEST FOR: Dinner parties

Bolney Estate, Sussex

Available for £13.99, that’s a £6 saving.

A well balanced wine. Fresh as a daisy. I love Pinot Gris and it is rightly gaining a bit of momentum on the English wine scene. The perfect bottle for any dinner party, especially if you’re serving seafood or something light and zesty.

5/ Lyme Bay Chardonnay 2020/21

BEST FOR: A summer bash

Lyme Bay, made in Devon (grapes from Essex)

Available for £20.24, that’s a £6.75 saving.

Expect a super elegant and refined Chardonnay – just the right amount of creamy, balanced with apple and citrus notes. This is award winning stuff. Offered at an excellent price by Majestic Wine.

Made in Devon, with grapes from the Crouch Valley in Essex. The home of Chardonnay in England!

6/ Chapel Down Rosé 2021/22

BEST FOR: BBQ

Chapel Down, Kent

Available for £11.99, that’s a £5 saving.

A classic for a reason. The Chapel Down Rose is always a good bottle to pull out whatever the event. But, for a summer BBQ, this is an ideal drop. Made with three grapes – Pinot Noir, Rondo, Regent – it is a complex but highly drinkable wine. Expect to be drenched in berry flavour.
