Three Choirs Vineyard: Gloucestershire

Three Choirs Vineyard is one of England’s oldest vineyards, representing the tradition of English wine making. A visit to the vineyard is sure to be an utter treat.

Not only do Three Choirs offer wine tasting & tours, but there is also a brasserie restaurant with delectable lunch & dinner options.

What wine does Three Choirs vineyard produce?

Three Choirs produce a little sparkling wine (classic cuvee) and a range of very well priced still wines.

The best seller is the white wine – Coleridge Hill 2022 which is made with Reichensteiner, Madeleine Angevine, Phoenix (a grape I had not heard of until writing this) and Seyval Blanc. The May Hill 2022 is also a super interesting semi-sweet wine with citrus hits.

Woodchester Valley Vineyard, Gloucestershire

Woodchester Valley vineyard was first planted in 2007. Today, there are three separate areas where grapes grow proudly. Woodchester is located in the Cotswolds in an area of outstanding beauty.

What wine does Woodchester Valley produce?

Woodchester Valley vineyard is known for producing a range of still and sparkling wines. This includes a best selling Bacchus, Ortega and a Pinot Noir.

Poulton Hill Estate, Gloucestershire

Poulton Hill Estate has won many Wine GB awards since it open it’s doors in 2010. It is a popular tourist attraction for wine lovers visiting the beautiful Cotswold area. You can find it close to both Cirencester and Cheltenham – two really fun places to visit.

What wine does Poulton Hill Estate produce?

Poulton Hill makes a quite broad range of delicious tipples. From still to sparkling, and even a range of spirits, including brandy and English vermouth.

Poulton wines are often made with “Pheonix” grapes, a muscat like white grape. This is also the name of their English vermouth, in honour of the unique grape and the symbol of Cirencester town.

Fun fact – Poulton Hill has patented the name “Bulari”, which means Bubbles in Latin. You’ll see this on a number of their bottles of fizz! I love this fun touch.

Larkhill Vineyard, Gloucestershire

Larkhill Vineyard is run by a small team, including a Labrador with a rather apt name, Pip. They first planted grapes in 2019 and have since gone from strength to strength. Today, you can visit for a tour and a tasting, or buy wine from their cellar door shop.

What wine does Larkhill Vineyard produce?

Larkhill Vineyard grow Seyval Blanc, Pinot Noir & Pheonix (a popular grape in Gloucestershire.) They produce unique blends with these grapes every year – how exciting.

Road Green Vineyard, Gloucestershire

Road Green Vineyard is a family run establishment in the hear of The Cotswolds. Road Green grows the grapes, and they work alongside Three Choirs, who bottle the wine. A local collaboration.

Road Green Vineyard produce two different dry white still wines – both are very reasonably priced. They also offer sparkling white and sparkling rose – both made in the traditional method.

Little Oak Vineyard, Gloucestershire

Little Oak Vineyard in Gloucestershire, may be small but it grows award winning English wine – having won Decanter awards previously.

It is possible to get your hands on Little Oak’s wines, but currently visits/ tastings & tours are limited to vine lease holders only.

Little Oak Vineyard produces a range of still and sparkling. Their still white wines are made from the Siegerrebe grape.

Cotswold Hills Vineyard, Gloucestershire

Cotswold Hills Vineyard is a really cool concept. Attached to the Royal Agricultural University in Cirencester, it is a social enterprise which enables students to get involved and learn about wine. The bonus – the vineyard produces wine that is sold commercially!

Unfortunately, it is not open to the public for visits, but you can buy their wine online.

What wine does Cotswold Hills Vineyard produce?

Cotswold Hills vineyard has 40 rows of vines planted with a mix of Ortega, Bacchus, Chardonnay and Seyval. They produce a still Ortega white wine, a sparkling white and sparkling rose, as well as a rather jaunty Cotswold Hills fizz in a can.
