How to get to Chapel Down vineyard?

Chapel Down Vineyard is conveniently located in Tenterden, Kent, making it accessible from several major cities in the UK. Here are the best ways to get there:

By Car:

  • From London: The vineyard is approximately a 1.5 to 2-hour drive from London. Take the M20 motorway, then exit at junction 9 towards Ashford. Follow the signs to Tenterden, and then to Small Hythe Road, where the vineyard is located.
  • From Canterbury: The drive from Canterbury takes about 45 minutes. Take the A28 towards Ashford, then follow the signs to Tenterden and continue to Small Hythe Road.
  • Parking: Chapel Down Vineyard offers ample free parking for visitors.

By Train:

  • From London: Take a Southeastern train from London Charing Cross or London Bridge to Ashford International. From Ashford, it’s a 20-minute taxi ride to the vineyard. Alternatively, you can catch a bus from Ashford to Tenterden, followed by a short taxi ride.
  • From Canterbury: Take a train to Ashford International, then proceed as above.

By Bus:

  • Local bus services run from Ashford, Rye, and Hastings to Tenterden. From Tenterden, a short taxi ride will get you to Chapel Down Vineyard.

What tours are available at Chapel Down vineyard?

Chapel Down has a wide range of tours and tasting experiences. In fact, there are seven different options!

First up is a guided tour and tutored tasting. This costs £30pp and is available throughout the week apart from on Saturdays. Next up, is the Taste of Summer event, which includes a tour, tasting and three course lunch in The Swan restaurant for £85pp. The Deluxe Tour Experience is perfect for a gift, at £130 pp it includes lunch, a tour and an extended tasting, plus a gift to take home.

My personal choice, would be the Walking with Wine experience. On this tour, you get to sample the wines as you walk around the vineyards for £30 pp. The Luxury Dining experience, includes a three course lunch, paired with wine and fizz, plus a tour and tasting – wow! All for £150pp. There’s also a tour and tasting paired with afternoon tea. And finally, a wedding tasting tour, for only £20pp.

Although Rye is a little further afield to Chapel Down, it is somewhere I would recommend staying if you want to make a weekend of it. Rye is a historic town with plenty to see and do, close to the beach of Camber Sands and, there are 7 amazing wineries within about 20 minutes of Rye, including Chapel Down.
