7 best wine tours Kent & Sussex: tours compared and rated

BEST WINE TOURS KENT & SUSSEX: TOURS COMPARED & RATED.

I love visiting vineyards independently, but there are occasions when taking a tour is the best option. Whether you’re looking for a day out with friends, you’re visiting from overseas, or you’ve got clients to impress on a corporate day out – there are lots of wonderful wine tours in Kent & Sussex to choose from.

This blog post compares 7 of the best wine tours in Kent & Sussex that are being offered this summer. Which is the best value for money? And crucially, which one includes the most wine?

Are wine tours in England worth it?

Let’s face it, wine tours can seem a little expensive. The big question is, are wine tours worth it?

Clearly taking an organised wine tour will cost a little more than it would to visit vineyards independently. But, tours need to cover their costs, as well as pay guides. They are value for money if you consider how much better your experience is for having an experienced tour guide, and having someone look after you for the day!

If you are travelling from overseas and you want to visit Kent & Sussex vineyards – I would absolutely say that taking a wine tour is worth it. Taking a tour is stress free, you’ll get a chance to learn more about the vineyards, and visit more than one.

If you live in the UK and you want to explore Kent & Sussex vineyards, I would suggest taking the time to visit some vineyards independently. There are lots of great vineyards in Kent & Sussex that are close to London – simply book a tasting or dining experience and travel there.

The other situation in which I would consider booking an organised wine tour, is for groups, such as for hen parties. Take the stress away and let someone look after you for the day!

2 / Kent Wine Tour: The posh winery & white cliffs experience

This tour is quite unique, as it doesn’t just focus on vineyards. You’ll be transported from central London, Marble Arch, out to an historic area of Kent.

First, you’ll have the chance to visit White Cliffs of Dover and then the famous Battle of Britain Memorial. As this is a wine tour, next up you’ll head to Gusbourne Winery. This is one of the poshest vineyards in Kent, known for it’s sparkling wine. At Gusbourne you’ll be treated to a full three course lunch, plus a wine tasting and tour.

This tour is great if you want to visit one vineyard in depth and enjoy a leisurely lunch. But also squeeze in some history. It would suit someone travelling from overseas who has just one day to see the sights.

3 / Kent & Sussex Wine Tour: Three Vineyards in Kent & Sussex

This group tour starts in London Bridge, where you’ll be whisked away on a coach or mini-van. The day is well structured, allowing you to visit three vineyards in Kent & Sussex.

At each vineyard you’ll enjoy a proper wine tasting, as well as the chance to nose around the vineyard. There’s a sit down lunch at a gastropub in Kent or Sussex. As well as transport back to London included.

I’d pick this tour if it sounds interesting to you to try wine in two different counties of England. The wine produced in Kent & Sussex is quite different, so I can see the fun of trying wine in both!

Kent & Sussex Three Vineyard Tour

💷£145 per person

✅ Transport to and from London/ around Kent & Sussex

✅ Tutored wine tasting at three vineyards

4 / Sussex Wine Tour: Small group tour

This group is a small group tour – different to the other tours as it is for a maximum of four people. Personally, I think this one is quite expensive as it doesn’t include transport from London. But this is a good choice if it’s important to you to be on a small/ semi-private tour.

Kent & Sussex Three Vineyard Tour

💷£140 per person

✅ Transport from local stations in Kent or Sussex

✅ 8 hours

✅ Wine tasting at two or three vineyards

5 / Kent Wine Tour: Private Tour of Three Vineyards in Kent

This tour hosted by Wine Tours of Kent, is one of the most established tours available. It is a private tour, which must be booked for a minimum of four people. Perfect for a special day out, or a corporate experience. The tour has a Badge of Excellence, meaning it has top reviews from previous participants.

On your day out, you’ll be collected from Ashford International station (easy to get to from London) or around the area. You’ll visit three vineyards, from a list of the best vineyards in Kent, and enjoy a lunch in a pub or vineyard.

7 / Wine Tour Kent: Self-guided bikes

Now for something totally different! This is a more budget friendly option for a wine tasting tour in Kent. You’ll be given an e-bike for the day (less pedaling than a traditional bike). You will also get suggested itineraries and maps to help you choose which vineyards to visit.

I have long thought that Kent is the perfect place to explore vineyards by bike. With over 50 vineyards around the county, you won’t be short of wine to taste. This is a budget friendly option as you’ll be able to choose how much you spend at each vineyard. But, keep in mind that transport to/from London is not included.
